Car Service: First of all, before setting on, please get your car examined and serviced at authorised service centre. You will not like to stall in the middle of the road, due to some silly problem. The service will sure include air and oil filter change, wheel alignment, wheel balancing, battery check, tyre rotation, tyre pressure and if the tyres are in poor condition, best is to get the new ones. Checking of level of fluids of all major parts. Wiper blades, fog lights and other electrical things including AC/ Heater, Music System, door locks etc. It’s advisable to always keep a spare tyre and well inflated tube in the boot, keep your tool box well equipped. Get the no-pollution certificate too. Get the fuel tank completely full and tyre pressure should be according to the car.

  • Prepare Itinerary: Make a plan of routes you will be covering and destinations you want to reach. It’s better to start early in the morning, so that you can drive 500 to 600 km easily and can halt for the night at time, before it gets too dark. Person who is driving needs proper rest and sleep. During day, take 2-3 small breaks at midways or motels but avoid secluded and deserted place.
  • Carry Map and Navigation Apps: Travelling by road, keep a latest road map, it will help you a lot and today’s modern travelling apps and navigators also assist a great deal when you travel in new place.
  • Advance Booking of Hotels: You should try to have pre-booking of hotel or resort where you will stay. It will help you in saving time and energy when you reach destination after all day long drive.

Keep First-Aid and other Utilities: Keep a small box of first-aid and few medicines. It comes handy with small children. Carry an Umbrella, torch with extra batteries, extra mobile batteries, energy bars, water bottles, fruits, snacks, disposable napkins, goggles, ropes, blankets etc. All such things help you with the children and during unexpected emergencies.
