Rock Climbing – An Active Adventure To Get You Fit

The sport and/or of rock climbing is fast becoming a popular activity for an active adventure even now gyms are adding these rock climbing walls to their facilities.

This activity uses so many different muscles in the body and uses a mixture of pull and push exercises on numerous muscles throughout your body.

We all want to feel fitter, healthier and to be more active… well using rock-climbing as your active adventure is one guaranteed way to do that while having fun at the same time.

Why do 12 reps of shoulder exercises or leg exercises when you can climb a wall, cliff or other steep setting? I know I’d rather have a fun and active adventure rather than sitting in a gym working out in front of the mirror.

The activity of rock climbing uses muscles in your shoulders, arms (more specifically forearms), upper back, thighs and calves so it really does give you a full body workout to get you fit.

As I mentioned above many gyms are now incorporating climbing walls as part of their facilities. So for those of you who simply cannot give up going to the gym at least at these places you will be able to climb the wall to either break up your weekly or monthly routine, but also helps to motivate you to do at least some sort of exercise when you can’t be bothered doing your usual routine.

Apart from gyms and rock climbing centres which are generally located indoors you could of course take your climbing skills to the next level and really challenge yourself by heading to the great outdoors and climbing cliffs and other high and steep ascents.

If the outdoors option is for you prior training would be recommended and all the necessary gear may need to be purchased, however you could take a climbing tour with professionals to show you the ropes.

Climbing a wall or a cliff-side outdoors truly is a great way to strengthen the muscles you never thought you had. In turn it creates a new hobby to take up on the weekends to break up from your normal gym or at home workout routines.

If you want to be both active and adventurous then trying out a rock climb is most definitely for you. The best part is it won’t even feel like a work out or a mundane exercise that you have to do. It is something you will want to do instead.
