When you fly into the region, it’s very to get to where you want to go with easy airport transfers – Dalaman and the cities and towns beyond are ideal as a base for exploring this lovely area.

After settling in from your airport transfers, Dalaman, Marmaris, Fethiye and Oludeniz are just waiting to be discovered at your leisure.

Marmaris

A place of unspoilt beauty, Marmaris is one of the places served by airport transfers. Dalaman Airport is easily accessible and if you’re looking for a relaxing place with plenty of sun, sand and sea, Marmaris is it! While smack in the middle of a tourist area, Marmaris manages to retain a good slice of its old world charm. Situated in the area known as the Turkish Riviera, the mountains converge with the sea in a picturesque landscape.

Thought to have been founded as early as 6,000 BC, Marmaris is named for the rich deposits of marble in the area. In addition to the many beautiful beaches, where you can relax and take in the summer sun, there are plenty of summer sports to experience and natural places to explore. For example, be sure to go to Heave Island and see Nimara Cave, which was used as a place of worship since the ancient times. If history is your thing, you are certainly in luck; pay a visit to Marmaris Castle, which was rebuilt in 1522 – it has been under renovation since the late 1970s and is now home to a museum.

Fethiye and Oludeniz

If you’ve gotten the taste for history from a visit to Marmaris, Fethiye is another superb destination that may interest you. Built on the ancient city of Telmessos, Fethiye is a true history lovers’ paradise. After time spent lazing on the stunning beaches, you visit the watery ruins of this ancient city right off the coast. The oracle in Telmessos played a part in shaping ancient history and the city became part of the growing Ottoman Empire in 1424. It wasn’t until later, in 1934, that the city was renamed Fethiye after one of the empire’s first pilots. While in the city, be sure to explore the ancient Tomb of Amyntas, which was built by the Lycians around 350 BC.

Just a short distance from Fethiye is the resort area of Oludeniz. Known as the “dead sea”, due to the extremely calm nature of its waters even during storms, the area is one of the most visited and photographed areas along the Turkish coast. The huge blue lagoon with its white pebble beach is part of a protected area, the administration of which aims to maintain the beauty and natural landscape of this stunning part of the country.

So when considering your next break in the sun – consider Turkey! With very convenient airport transfers, Dalaman, Fethiye, Oludeniz and Marmaris are all within your reach.
