Natural Hair Care Recipes That Work

All it takes is a glance at the ingredients in our hair care products to draw you away from over-the-counter shampoos and conditions to healthier natural hair care recipes. Even the overly-expensive and highly promoted “products” offered at the best hair salons contains chemical preservatives and such that are proven harmful to your health.

With a little internet browsing and effort on your part, you can find some natural hair care recipes that are safe and often far superior to the products found at your local grocery or drug store or even at your hair salon.

Dry Brittle Hair

For dry, brittle hair, a mix that includes olive oil or coconut oil will give you that luster you’ve been missing. An additional plus is the delicious smell that coconut oil gives your hair.

Recipes for Thickening Hair

Hair loss or thinning is often attributable to medications for such issues as blood pressure, as well as emotional stress or hormonal imbalance. But there are things you can do to promote thicker, healthier hair without eliminating a possibly vital medication such as one for blood pressure. Aloe Vera, for instance, is known to promote thicker hair. Split open two aloe vera leaves and scrape out the gel. Massage it into your scalp and leave it on for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse and wash. Do this once a week and see if you don’t notice a difference.

A mixture of avocado and banana, mashed finely, and massaged into the scalp is another one of the natural hair care recipes people swear by. I know, the idea is pretty gross, but so are some of the avocado based facials people smear on their face. The fact is, both avocado and banana are packed with nutrients that are good for the skin, including the scalp. You’ll find your hair shinier and thicker in no time.

Eliminating Residue Left By Hair Products

Have you noticed a build-up on your scalp of late? It almost feels like the “cradle cap” your newborn used to get. The fact is, all the use of “products” – even the most recommended products from the best of hair dressers – eventually causes a build-up of residue. This settles on your skull and creates problems such as itchiness and dullness of the hair, and possibly even dandruff.

I recently stumbled upon some natural hair care recipes and one was for this very problem. It recommended mixing a paste of water and baking soda and saturating your hair with it. Be sure to get it deep into the scalp where all this residue has settled. Leave it on for five to ten minutes, massaging it occasionally. Then rinse thoroughly and wash as usual. I tried it, and I’m here to tell you that it worked. No more itch; no more residue.

It takes little time to eliminate the toxins and create natural products for your hair once you take away the chemical additives that threaten your health. Give some of these recipes a try and see if you too don’t notice an improvement.
