Milan – A Visit To The World Capital Of Design!

If you want to see the face the modern Italy, then simply visit Milan. It is a real center of innovation and creativity. A visit to this industrial and financial hub of Italy will also offer a fascinating glimpse into its intense cultural life. It is no wonder that over two million visitors throng to Milan every year.

Milan is often referred to as the world capital of design. Milan’s burgeoning arts district of Chiesa Rossa is a must-visit. This is a Mecca for art aficionados. Take flights to Milan today to discover the peculiarly designed galleries, warehouse studios and quirky cafes here.

Here’s what you should visit while at Cheisa Rossa. Consider visiting the SuperStudio. It’s here that aspiring fashion photographers are now being trained. Some of the best fashion photographic studios and sets in the world are to be found at SuperStudio. A visit here would therefore be quite exciting. SuperStudio has an interesting history of its own. The area was an industrial suburb replete with factories and warehouses off the Via Tortona. However, Italian fashion photographer Fabrizio Ferri and fashion editor Flavio Lucchini took a decision 26 years ago to make use of the disused factories and warehouses and convert into what it is now known as SuperStudio. Even now the area continues to retain its 20th-century charm and artisan spirit. It is one such place where you will get to see art shows, concerts, and fashion and design events being held round the year.

Another surprise in store for you here is Forma. It was opened in 2005 in a disused tramway warehouse. Today, Forma is the first of its kind international center for photography in Milan which offers an exhibition space, a print lab, a bookshop, a school and a restaurant – all under one roof. Forma is located on a former cemetery. It is full of art students and presents a special atmosphere.

La Darsena canals present a fascinating view and bring respite to the visitors. The canals were first designed by Leonardo da Vinci. However, these were later on redesigned by Mussolini’s architects in the 1920s. Milan natives often head to these canals to get some respite and escape the frantic pace of life. A number of art galleries, bars and cafes are lined up along the La Darsena canals. For mini-cruises and boat-restaurants, consider visiting Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The canals are also famous for racing boats competition. An annual Leonardo Trophy competition is held in which 11 teams compete on racing boats. This competition is being held ever since the 1930s.

There are many more surprises in store for you when you visit Milan’s famous arts district of Chiesa Rossa. You are sure to find fun-filled moments here.
