How To Take Care Of Your Hair Extensions: Four Tips To Do That

This may sound a little bit odd, but you should be concerned about the care of your hair extensions. Like most other things hair extensions also require extra care. Think of it this way – will you be happy with the extensions that don’t look real (or look real only for a month)? I’m sure that you won’t be! So here’s some advice for you that you can follow to take better care of your hair extensions:

Brush regularly: Brushing your hair regularly is as important as brushing your teeth in the morning. It may seem sarcastic, but it’s 100% true! It’s a daily maintenance exercise for your hair extensions that should be done with the right tool and in the right manner. A brush with soft bristles will be perfect for the job. And for the technique part I would like to say that it’s much simpler and easier than you think. It requires only two things – patience and care. Start with the bottom and slowly detangle that area of hair before moving upwards.

Wash carefully: Extensions don’t get dirty as often as our natural hair do, but it doesn’t mean that we can wash them once in a blue moon! Washing is crucial for the maintenance of hair extensions. And just like brushing, there’re some common instructions for washing too. Detangle your extensions before applying the shampoo and apply the shampoo slowly. Wet them bit by bit while applying the shampoo and use a downward motion for shampooing and rinsing. If they start to knot together you can take help of a wide-toothed comb, but be super gentle with them. This way your extensions won’t tangle. Finally, don’t forget the importance of a good shampoo because cheaper ones may reversely spoil your extensions.

Apply conditioner: Extensions also require conditioning like your natural hair. Take a good nourishing hair conditioner and spray it on your extensions (or you can also use the same downward motion to apply it). Brush out any remaining tangles and you can leave them for drying. Don’t apply a whole lot of nourishing products simultaneously because they may reversely decrease the charm and realistic feeling of your extensions.

Dry naturally: This is easy to say but not easy to do. However, this is insanely important like other ideas suggested in this article. Professional hair stylists always suggest that the extensions should be dried naturally, but we fail in doing so (especially if they’re non-removable). Instead of using heat or air to dry the extensions quickly it’s always better to leave them for 30 minutes so they can dry naturally.
