How to Stop a Child’s Tooth Ache

Child’s toothache!! It can be frightening for parents to know what to do when their kid complains of a toothache. What will you do if your child tells you about their tooth pain in middle of nights or you cannot get an appointment? In this case, following natural remedies can ease the tooth pain temporarily.

Usually, child’s toothache indicates the time to consult a periodontist. You should not delay consulting your doctor as it may be due to cavity or some other problem with the gums, which become serious if left untreated. If you are in a situation in which you are unable to visit your dentist, then you can try these home remedies for your child’s tooth pain. You can follow these tips till you get an appointment.

• First step to stop tooth pain is brushing, flossing and using mouth wash to alleviate pain.

• Plain, warm water can help alleviate the pain, particularly when tooth enamel is cracked. Give your kid a glass of Luke warm water to rinse his/her mouth whenever tooth begins to hurt.

• Some tooth pains really feel better when applying an ice pack outside the cheek instead of warm water.

• Applying a clove of garlic along with little rock salt on the painful area helps reduce or even cure it quickly.

• Using clove oil is like first-aid for treating tooth aches. Apply few drops of clove oil using a sterilized cotton swab to the painful tooth twice or thrice a day. This will reduce the painful sensation.

• Red pepper holds pain relieving salicylates, which is an herbal medicine equivalent to aspirin. This herb also comprises of capsaicin that regulates the production of body’s natural pain killers to ease pain.

• Licorice root inhibits the development of plaque and remove bacteria from sticking to enamel of tooth. Thus, licorice helps to get relief from tooth decay discomfort.

• Strong pain killers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen work effectively to give instant relief from your child’s tooth pain. Gels are also available to numb the affected area.

• Vanilla extract is a best quick fix for tooth pain remedies in children. Rub it gently on the tooth and gums to ease pain. Besides, the scent of vanilla has the calming effect especially with teething babies and young children.

• Tea tree oil is very effective against teeth pain that are caused due to infections around gums and teeth. Coat the area with tea tree oil and do it twice or thrice a day to relieve pain.

Scheduling to a dentist and regular check-ups are very important to avoid further damages and consequences to your teeth.
