Exploring the Seaside Delights of Dalaman

When you’re booking your holiday to explore the beautiful coast of Turkey, consider the beautiful region of Dalaman. Transfers to this area are easy, as the airport is one of the major hubs for the region. The town was used by the Greeks as a getaway spot in ancient times, and it continues to draw visitors with its natural beauty and temperate climate.

When you get to Dalaman, transfers to the heart of the Turquoise Coast are easy to arrange. And, with some of the loveliest beaches in Turkey, it is no wonder the area is also known as the Turkish Riviera. When you are planning your trip to the area, you can have your choice of location, which can be as built up or as isolated as you desire. If you are into big, resort style locations where everything is at the tips of your fingers, head to Fethiye, or if you want something a bit more tranquil, consider Kale Köyü.

Fethiye

Situated on the southwest coast of Turkey, Fethiye is easy to get to from Dalaman. Transfers to this, one of the larger resort areas, is simple and straightforward. Though it is one of the bigger resorts, with a spectacular backdrop of mountains, it is really not much larger than a small city. It was built over the ruins of Telmessos, which was one of the most important cities of Lycia. The city’s ruins can be seen in the Hellenistic Theatre by the main quay, and an excursion here is a perfect way to get out and about when you want a break from the stunning beaches. Here, you are just a short trip from what is the most photographed beach in Turkey: Olu Deniz. The beach and lagoon are designated as areas of outstanding natural beauty – protected and pristine. The waters are an amazing blue and are very warm in the summertime, making for a perfect relaxing day at the beach.

Kale Köyü

Slightly further west than Fethiye, but still within an hour from Dalaman, transfers to Kale Köyü are well worth the extra time. The tiny village sits on the coast and above it presides the Simena Crusade castle. The Simena Crusade castle is bang in the middle of a protected site; this status is based on both its natural beauty and its deep historical significance. The castle dates back to as late as the 4th century A.D. and it has remains of an even older civilisation within it. If you get tired of relaxing on the gorgeous beaches of Turkey, be adventurous and head out to explore other parts of the coast. You can see the tombs of the ancient Lycians’ protruding from the water’s edge, along with the partially submerged remains of ancient houses.
