Transition From Work Wear To Evening Wear

Today’s woman is very busy. You are expected to take care of the home, children, and go to work – all while still looking fabulous. But sometimes, you need to find ways to relax and have fun. It goes without saying that saving time is very high on everyone’s priority list. But what can you do when you are invited out to drinks after work? Or maybe after work is the only time you have available to catch up with an old friend. In this world full of deadlines, we need to make sure our outfits can transition from work to evening with just a few changes. Here are a few tips to help you manage that.

First off, be prepared. You may have to bring a few pieces to work with you. For example, bring a large tote bag with you that has room enough to hold your jacket and a few accessories. Bring a small clutch purse, a pair of fancy heels, some jewelry, and a small makeup bag.

To make changing your look easier, make sure you have a good base with which to start. A sleeveless knee-length black dress and black pumps are versatile enough for this. For the office, throw on a pretty blazer and tie a chiffon scarf around your neck. Keep your jewelry simple for work. For example, a gold pendant and some pretty pearl stud earrings are perfect for day wear.
After hours, remove the blazer and place it in your tote along with your pumps. Put on the pair of fancy heels. Exchange your pearl studs and gold pendant for a pair of flashy hoops and a bright statement necklace. You can choose to either take the scarf off, or tie it in a way that is different and edgier than how you wore it to work. For instance, during the day, you can wrap it loosely around your neck and tie it in the back so that it resembles a tube scarf.
At night, untie the scarf and let it drape on your neck with the two ends hanging down. Tie a loose knot in the center of each end. Touch up your makeup, adding a red lip if necessary. Take your hair down and brush it out. Lastly, place your phone, car keys and coin purse into your clutch purse and stash the tote under your desk or in the trunk of your car. You are now ready for a night on the town!

Additional tips:

Take perfume or deodorant with you.

Keep a packet of moist makeup wipes in your makeup bag.

If you are going to be on your feet all day, make sure your shoes are comfortable so that wearing heels later in the evening will not be as painful.
