How To Wear Yellow!

Yellow is such a polarizing color. People either love it or hate it. Yellow is associated with warmer seasons, happiness, laughter and fun but many people stay away from it, mainly because they are convinced this color would not look good on them. Folks who are afraid of this shade do not have to stay away from it. But with careful consideration, even folks to abhor this bright hue can enjoy it in their outfits.

Small amounts of yellow in a wardrobe can brighten up even the most drab outfits. When your clothes are accented by it, the color does not need to be anywhere near the face which is where most people have problems with it. Try a bright yellow satchel handbag with a casual jeans and t-shirt outfit for a bright punch. For fancier occasions, a yellow leather clutch bag will look stunning against a little black dress. Make sure you have a small touch of yellow elsewhere to offer balance. Perhaps a shoe ornament or yellow stones set in a metal bangle will add the right touch, or maybe it is incorporated in the print of the top you choose to wear.

Yellow shoes are a fantastic way to accent any outfit. Even for work, this color in a pair of heels can brighten up the dullest of colors. Pair grey slacks and a slim fitted teal shirt underneath a cardigan in a darker shade of grey. The yellow in your shoes will add a pop of sunshine and looks wonderful with teal. A pair of yellow chandelier earrings will balance and ground this look.

Sunshine colored jewelry are a great way to liven up your wardrobe without going overboard. If you are afraid to wear it around your face, try smaller studs or a tiny pendant on a delicate chain. This will help you get used to the idea and maybe you will see that this shade is flattering after all. Bubble necklaces or statement pieces will look stunning against a fitted v-neck sweater in navy blue.

A dandelion colored scarf will warm up any fall or winter outfit. While the seasons are still in transition, start with a chiffon scarf. It is light enough to still wear if a warm day somehow sneaks its way into October but will still keep you from freezing on those early mornings. A pashmina will brighten up a wool or tweed coat in the grey fog of winter while still keep you warm.

If you choose the right shade of yellow, you will be able to wear it in larger pieces like a mustard sweater or chrysanthemum coat. Mix with neutrals to tone down the brightness and you are all set!
