Face Make-Up: What You Need to Know

Mastering the art of make-up takes time and patience, but it’s a wonderful process which eventually makes you feel feminine and comfortable in your own skin. Think of it as an art class which doesn’t require too much talent; everybody can learn how to properly apply foundation, eyeshadow, blush and lipstick as long as they are slightly familiar with colors and have a bit of taste. Dexterity is acquired over time.

Every introduction to this domain should start with the importance of proper face make-up. You can be the Picasso of eye shadow – as long as you don’t know how to conceal blemishes or mattify your skin, the attention can be drawn upon them instead of your eyes. You need to have a clean canvas if you want to emphasize your features; and then again, the canvas can become your ultimate trait.

In order to get started, all you need is a freshly-washed, moisturized face, a set of face brushes and the face make-up. Here’s what you have to do:

  • Apply moisturizer (a soft, light cream) on your face and neck. This will serve as make-up base and will help smoothen the whole process.
  • You can either start with applying the concealer or the foundation. I advise you to start with the foundation in order not to use too much concealer. However, if you have severe blemishes or red spots, apply green concealer underneath the foundation. Anyhow, concealer should be applied with the tip of your fingers or with a concealer brush, and foundation with a sponge, your fingers or a special foundation brush. If you’re aiming towards having an impeccable complexion, you ought to use the a brush.
  • Apply light powder using a powder brush.
  • Now for the blush. Smile when you apply it in order to know exactly where it should be placed ( on the apple of your cheeks). Make sure you even it out.
  • Contour your face using darker powder and highlighter. Apply the powder under your cheek bones and highlighter in between your eyes and your cheek apples. You can also highlight your brow bones.
  • Blend everything together with a powder brush and, if necessary, apply pressed powered in the ares you feel weren’t paid enough attention.

It’s very important you use age-appropriate products which address your skin type and have been clinically tested. Foundation should have a minimum of 15 SPF and always remove your make-up before you go to bed in order to prevent premature skin aging. Don’t forget to always moisturize your skin an apply a natural mask at least once a week.
