Justin Bieber Released Following DUI Arrest

After being released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on Thursday afternoon, Justin Bieber made an unforgettable exit.

Perched atop a black SUV, the singer, 19, addressed throngs of fans who gathered outside to support him following his early morning DUI arrest. Dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, leather pants and his face shielded with sunglasses, Bieber looked solemn as he waved to his supporters.

It seems as Bieber is taking cues from another pop icon, Michael Jackson, who infamously climbed atop his SUV to connect with his fans in January 2004, after pleading not guilty to seven felony counts of child molestation.

Bieber was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami for driving under the influence. Details from the police report say that Bieber had “bloodshot eyes” and a “stup[o]r look on his face” when he was pulled over in a rented yellow Lamborghini, after a police officer allegedly saw him drag-racing with another vehicle.

Upon being approached by the officer, Bieber reportedly resisted arrest, saying “Why the f— are you doing this?”

The report also notes that Bieber “had an odor of alcohol emanating from [his] breath.”

In one of his two mugshots, Bieber flashes a megawatt smile, with his hair flipped upward – but in his profile image, looks more serious.

After appearing in court later that day with his attorney, Roy Black, the singer’s bond was set at $2,500.

Though he seemed stoic during the hearing, his emotions caught up with him later.

Upon returning to the detention center, Bieber was “crying his eyes out,” a source tells PEOPLE.
