Best Back Acne Treatment

The Discomfort

Acne can happen anywhere on your body except for the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. All acne is unsightly and can cause a greater or lesser degree of discomfort. However back acne is perhaps the most uncomfortable.

What is Back Acne?

Acne occurs when the pores of the skin get clogged, and happens to most people to varying degrees. This generally happens at puberty, when the sebaceous glands on the skin get activated. These glands produce sebum, which is a waxy substance, and when produced in large amounts, tends to clog the pores of the skin. The reasons for acne remain largely unknown. It causes lesions on the skin which can develop into sores and cause irritation and pain. However back and other body acne is more prone to cause irritation then face acne as they are usually covered by clothing which will chafe against the skin. Tight clothing and perspiration can aggravate that and often cause painful sores.

back acne treatment is possible. In cases of existing acne, you can take steps to avoid irritation, and use some medication. You can also take preventive measures, although the actual effectiveness will vary as the real causes of acne are unknown. Here are some ways you can lessen the pain and irritation.

Avoid tight clothing. Tight clothing will chafe against the skin and cause irritation. Try wearing cotton which is breathable as there will be less sweating.

Change out of sweaty clothes.  Whenever possible change out of sweaty clothes and wear fresh ones.

Medical treatment. In mild cases of acne a topical application of an anti-bacterial agent such as 10 percent Benzoyl Peroxide gel or cream seems to help. Just apply the cream or gel on the affected spots at night and let it dry before putting on any clothes. The best way to go about it is as follows.
•Clean the affected areas with an anti-bacterial cleanser such as Cetaphil and let the skin dry. Don’t use soap as it tends to worsen the irritation.

•Apply the 10 percent benzoyl peroxide as mentioned earlier and let it dry.

Severe cases are best left to a qualified dermatologist. These can be hereditary and can require the use of oral antibiotics. However be aware that these can lead to severe depression. Only a qualified physician can advise you on that.

Preventive Measures

There are some things you can do that can help you avoid the conditions that seem to encourage the occurrence of acne. As clogged pores are a primary reason for acne, exfoliation is a good measure as it clears away the dead cells and unclogs the pores.

•Wash once or twice a day with the mildest possible soap.

•Use anti-bacterial products on the clean skin, and let them dry.

•Use an exfoliation treatment once a week to keep your skin clog free.

•Always take a shower after you have been involved in any activity that causes perspiration.

•Change into clean clothes and/or bras before and after exercising.

•Use an oil absorbing fabric on your skin

•Wash your clothes using a mild detergent and use a fabric softener.

•Change pillow cases, sheets and towels frequently as the come into frequent or prolonged contact with your skin.
