A Basic Regimen To Brighten Up Your Skin Naturally

We are all born with baby soft, supple, and glowing skin. So what happens along the way to reduce the glow? As the years pass, we suffer exposure to UV rays, pollution, dirt, and so many harmful substances and forces making our skin lose the brightness and turn dull and dry.

Usually, dullness sets in because the outer layer of skin – the epidermis, piles up dead skin and dirt, unless we remove them regularly. In addition, most women start to use make-up around their teenage years, and these cosmetic products clog the skin pores, worsening the dull outer layer. The clogging prevents the skin from expelling built up carbon dioxide, and absorbing oxygen, increasing the loss of skin glow.

A basic healthy beauty regimen must include cleaning and toning, incorporating facials once a week, to enable you to recharge and brighten your skin naturally.

Cleanse:

Wash your face twice every day, with warm water and a suitable cleansing agent getting rid of the day’s accumulated dirt, dead skin, makeup, and oil. If you have seriously oily skin, use a mild soap. However, keep in mind to use a product – whether cleanser or soap – it must gently remove the debris, but not steal any of the moisture that is vital to your skin. After you cleanse, the skin should feel fresh, but not stretched. At bedtime, use a cleansing product to remove makeup and accumulated dirt.

Tone:

After each cleansing, don’t forget to tone. This restores a healthy Ph balance, and helps to close the newly opened skin pores, preventing the loss of essential skin oils and moisture. Choose a soothing toner to remove any remaining makeup, dirt, or cleanser, and to hydrate your skin as well as restore the natural pH balance. If you have oily skin, you need an oil free toner, and dry skin needs an alcohol free toner. Choose one that contains natural ingredients including orange peel, chamomile, or coneflower to help brighten your skin gently.

Extra treatment:

Along with the cleaning and conditioning, give your skin regular repair, paying attention to sun damage, blemishes, fine lines, discoloration, and patchy complexion. Choose products suited to your specific skin type, preferably with additives like salicylic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids, green tea extracts, Vitamins A, C and E, etc.

Moisturize and Protect:

Your skin, like your body, needs water to survive. Round off the daily skin regimen with a natural moisturizer to replenish the moisture to refresh your cells. Effective moisturizers supply much needed moisture, and form a barrier or shield on your skin, preventing moisture from escaping, and keeping dirt and debris from penetrating your skin.

Exfoliate:

Exfoliation removes dead skin from the outer layer of the epidermis. Exfoliate two to three times a week using a facial scrub, or sugar solution. Dampen the skin and massage the scrub or the sugar solution in with gentle motions for about two minutes. Rinse with warm water to remove the mixture.
