3 Natural Remedies for Acne

Most people never stop to consider natural remedies for acne when they are looking for treatment options for this problem. They immediately head over to their neighborhood drugstore and pick up one of the many commercial acne fighting products available. If their acne problem is bad enough, a dermatologist may be consulted and a prescription regiment is usually given.

What can you do if these methods and products don’t work for you? What if you want to avoid the chemicals used in these types of acne treatments? Are other options available? There certainly are other options!  Read on.

Fortunately, there are many natural remedies for acne that are very effective. In fact, don’t be surprised if they work better than the conventional treatments that are available over the counter at your local drugstore. An added bonus is that they are also very budget friendly. So let’s jump in now and take a look at five of the top natural remedies for acne.

1. Baking Soda Masks – This is one very powerful treatment that helps in several ways. What you’ll do is mix about a tablespoon of baking soda with some warm water until it forms a paste. Apply all over and leave it on for 15 minutes. As you continue to use this treatment you can gradually increase the time you leave it on for and even leave it on overnight if you’d like.

The baking soda acts as an exfoliant and aids in removing dead skin cells. Additionally, you will find that it is good for reducing scars, stopping future breakout and easing any inflammation you may have.

2. Honey – Honey contains antibacterial properties. This makes it an excellent choice for fighting acne. It acts as a disinfectant and is also good on blemishes. Should you need a quick fix for a pimple that you want to get rid of, you can dab it with honey and put a bandage on it. Make sure to leave it on overnight.

3. Ice cubes – Apply an ice pack to problem areas for 10 minutes. This will ease inflammation and the cold will force the pores to close in turn pushing out the dead skin cells, bacteria and oil. Afterwards rinse your face with cold water.

There are many other natural remedies for acne that you can try in addition to what is listed here. Oftentimes you’ll need to try several solutions until you find one that works for you.
