An agreement over the guardianship of Paul Walker’s teenage daughter, Meadow Rain, has been reached pending Rebecca Soteros going to rehab, PEOPLE confirms.
A source tells PEOPLE that the 15-year-old, who has been staying with the late actor’s mother, Cheryl Walker, will live with her mother, Soteros, if she successfully completes a rehab program.
Both parties have agreed that Soteros will regain custody of Meadow – an arrangement that both mother and daughter want, the source says – following treatment for her issues with alcohol, which include two DUIs.
According to TMZ, Meadow – who has been living with her grandmother since August – will stay with the Walker family while Soteros is in rehab.
Speculation of a custody battle began to brew after Walker’s mother filed papers seeking to become the legal guardian of her granddaughter and the $25 million estate she inherited, following his death in a car crash in November.
TMZ and E! were the first to report the agreement.
