Wonderland of flowers Tulip festival of Kashmir

You know you do not have to go all the way to Holland in order to run through a garden full of tulips. Kashmir itself presents such a unique opportunity every year when tulips are at their full bloom in its Tulip Garden. Every year, the famed tulip Festival takes place in the first two weeks of April. This year, it will be no different. So, Tulip Festival 2014 will be held in the first fortnight of April this year and will invariably pull in tourists and nature lovers from all over the world. Needless to say that the demand for flights and hotels will sky-rocket all of a sudden during that time! So, to avoid the rush and the roof-touching prices, it is better to get your Kashmir tour packages booked as early as possible.

Tulip is counted amongst the most beautiful flowers in the world. It is very pleasant to touch, to see or to smell. Kashmir’s beauty gets doubled when the tulip flowers make their presence felt. However, these flowers have a rather short life span and it is only for a few days that their peak blooming season lasts. It is also fitting in many ways. Some people say that real beauty is an evanescent thing. If it could last forever in tangible form, its beauty would fade as people would get bored of it. So, much true to this piece of advice from some unknown musing philosopher, these colorful tulips choose to arrive for just a few days and then they stay in our memories till it is time to bloom next year again.

Tulip Festival 2014 will be hosted by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. It is Asia’s largest tulip garden and is extremely popular for this event. The cost of ticket during the festival will be Rs 50 (adults) and Rs 20 (children). It is quite nominal given the fact that the beauty of these stunning tulips is just incomparable. The garden is situated in the capital Srinagar and is not much far from the famed attraction of Dal Lake.

Tulip Festival 2014 is still a few weeks away. But the euphoria amongst the tourists, the flower lovers and the photographers has already started showing through numerous blog posts, status updates on social sites and tweets & messages. April, in any case, is a great month to visit Kashmir whose cool hills prove to be soothing to the scorched souls of the plain dwellers.
