High Protein Soy Food

Many foods containing soy — such as soy milk, tofu,protein powder, soy meat alternatives, soy sauce, soy flour and soybean oil and so on— can be found in supermarkets as well as natural, health and Asian food stores. Foods that contain whole soy are an excellent source of dietary protein for vegetarians and vegans because they provide all the amino acids — a type of nutrient — that people need to stay healthy. (People who eat meat get all their essential amino acids from animal products.)

Soy Milk

Soy milk contains about the same proportion of protein as cow’s milk . but to the Lactose, the primary carbohydrate in cow’s milk, poses a digestive problem for lactose intolerant folks. Soy milk,which is high in protein, low in fat, sodium and cholesterol-free, doesn’t contain any lactose suitable for lactose intolerant folks, wins more and more popularity. It’s also a popular cow’s milk substitute for vegans and vegetarians since it’s based on a plant source (others include rice, oat, almond, coconut, and potato milk).

Tofu
Tofu, also known as soybean curd, is a soft, smooth soy product made by curdling fresh, hot soy milk with coagulant. Coagulated soy milk curds are pressed into blocks of tofu in a process that resembles cheese making.

Tofu has a mild flavor and easily absorbs the flavors of marinades, spices and other ingredients. Tofu is rich in high-quality protein and B vitamins, and low in sodium. There are two main types of tofu:

Water-packed tofu comes in extra-firm, firm and soft varieties. This tofu is dense and solid and maintain its shape.
Silken tofu comes in extra-firm, firm, soft and reduced-fat varieties. This tofu is made by a slightly different process that results in softer product.
