I know what you’re thinking… “Sunflower oil doesn’t have many uses”. Well, yes it does. Sunflower oil is one the most versatile types of oil that you can find. It has many types of properties and uses in different areas of our lives. It is used in the food industry and also in the automotive industry. Quite a vast difference between the two, I know. But I’ll go through all the various ways that sunflower oil can used in daily living.
Let me start with what you already know. Sunflower oil is used in the food industry, that is, in every restaurant, café and household because it is readily available and is cost effective. It fits into any budget and pure sunflower oil contains no cholesterol. So there is a health benefit too. The general uses of this type of oil include cooking (stews and curries), frying (French fries, chicken and fish) and baking (cakes and pies). It is used daily in many households for creating delicious meals.
Sunflower oil can also be used to make sunflower butter or sun butter. This is not the usual yellow butter that you are thinking of. It is an alternative to peanut butter. Physically it looks similar to peanut butter, but contains no peanut ingredients. Sun butter was initially made to offer an alternative to peanut butter for those people who have peanut and nut allergies. Although, the early stages of the creation of sunflower butter had its challenges, eventually the peanut and nut free alternative was born. People with nut allergies can easily and healthily enjoy the sunflower butter.
Another unusual use for sunflower oil is that of bio fuel. This used oil is used in the production of biodiesel. This is an alternative to the regular diesel that is used in diesel engine vehicles. Trucks that currently run on diesel are able to substitute the diesel they usually use from fuel stations with biodiesel instead. The biodiesel is more cost effective and becoming more readily available.
Sunflower oil has many different uses that you wouldn’t even consider. It is used in cooking, frying and baking whereas on the other hand it is used to make sunflower butter and even biodiesel. It is wonderful to think the purposes that it is used for is to improve our daily lives whether it be to create delicious meals and treats or to keep our vehicles going. All in a cost effective manner. Now that is what I call a versatile oil.
