Types of mascara: lengthening, volume and curling mascara

Lengthening mascara. It consists of special lengthening components, increasing the length of the lashes.

Volume mascara. In its structure added micro-granules of wax which envelop each lash with layer by which lashes do not stick together and look thicker. To increase the amount of eyelashes various additives are also used (coal dust or tiny fibers).

Curling mascara. The curling effect is achieved by curling movements with special curved brush and short bristles. There are mascaras, curling eyelashes by means of special composition (keratin, resins) which forms a layer on the surface of eyelashes, pulled together during drying, thereby curling the lashes.

It has a thick brush with very thick bristles and fibers of different lengths. Short fibers put on each lash, and long fibers evenly level it across the surface of the lashes.

Mascara with vitamins for sensitive eyes:

Depending on the nutritional and medicinal substances in the composition, it can be divided into two groups: with vitamins, for sensitive eyes and healing gel.

Fortified mascara contains additional substances (protein, melanin, keratin, UV filters, etc.) which strengthen the lashes, giving them healthy look and protect them from breakage and irritant effect of external factors.

Mascara for sensitive eyes does not cause irritation and redness. It contains a minimal amount of preservatives which are more often intolerant. I recommend using the best mascara 2012.

Therapeutic mascara is a transparent gel. It contains castor oil, vitamins, proteins, keratin which gives elasticity lashes and emphasize their natural beauty. Healing gel does not contain dyes.

Waterproof and water-soluble mascara:

But that’s not all! All mascaras can be further divided into two broad classes – waterproof and water-soluble. The names speak for themselves, and you need to choose them accordingly. If you are going to work out or to the pool, the choice is obvious – the waterproof mascara. But you should know that it is more aggressive and can cause irritation, and the color palette is limited – black, brown and blue. The water-soluble mascara is less dangerous to the eyes and it quickly dissolves in water and is easily washed off.

Quality standards for mascara

If you have decided on the kind, type, class of it, you need to check it for compliance with certain quality standards:

  • Pay attention to packaging. It must contain the type of it, the country and manufacturer, as well as the composition and manufacturing date.
  • Check the expiration date. The optimal period of using is three months, and dry mascara – six months.
  • Take the tube out of the box and check the color.
  • Note the odor. Qualified mascara does not smell and it can have a subtle sweet scent. The only exception is the lash gel.

Mascara on the structure should resemble the cream. If it is too thin or thick, it means that the conditions of storage were not complied with.

To make sure that the product is quality, you need to lightly run the brush in your hand: if the line is smooth, lump-free, you can safely use it.
