Latest summer/spring wear trends in 2014 and How to choose and shop right one for you

Pack up your woolens and get your dresses on. It’s the time of the year when spring is just around the corner. The season brings with it the colours, the joy and the latest trends in spring/summer fashion.

The spring summer fashion ushers in floral prints every year. But this year, the floral have a dark, gothic edge. Wear florals with black, mauve or navy blue backgrounds. The look revolves around a woman who is girlie but is not afraid to explore her dark side. Florals this season can be bold and bigger motifs as well as smaller prints. You can wear them in short and long maxi dresses, leggings and washed-off denims for the slim-bodied and sleeveless tops to keep the heat away.

Crop tops are the latest trend in summer fashion. They are a shorter stomach-showing version of a top which ends above the waist and exposes the midriff. Hence, one needs to have a well-toned body to carry a crop top. If your body type suits this, you can wear them in bright colours like neon orange, green and yellow. You can shop at Forever 21 for crop tops in sequins, patch-work and crochet laces in neon shades.

Another way to wear a crop top is over a high waist skirt or dress. This way the midriff is not exposed. Another trend to carry forward is a chambray shirt. These are denim-inspired shirts for women and men. They are lighter in colour and texture and can be worn with printed leggings or jeggings.

The voluminous lady-like silhouettes in dresses as well as skirts, inspired from the runway fashion showcased by Christian Dior and Tracy Reese are causing a stir. Anyone with a medium to slim body type can carry this off with elan. For the healthy women, opt for one single tone of colour from head to toe to elongate the body and make it appear slimmer.

It was from the moment that models were seen hopping, skipping and jumping on the runway in the Chanel spring summer show, that we knew sporty and preppy is the new look for summer fashion. With this trend, sweatshirts are no longer meant for the gym. The slouchy sweatshirt can be worn in bright hues and cute girlie patterns over a short skirt. Team this look with sneakers and sport shoes and you are good to go.
