How to nourish your hair to make it healthier

As fall approaches, several women complain about their hair being dry, dull and brittle. This condition primarily happens when your hair is exposed to sun (during summer). If you aren’t careful, the condition may worsen during the cold winter months. Make it a point to nourish your hair regularly to get healthy and shiny hair.

One of the crucial things you should remember during this time is not to cut hair at home unless you have undergone training in cosmetology. Most women prefer changing their hairstyle as the season changes, but do not try to do it at home. The best way is to visit your hairstylist and let them choose a great hairstyle for you. Plus, they will also give you tips to get healthy hair.

If you want to know how to nourish your hair to make it healthier, I think, you should first assess the current condition of your hair. Unless you are aware of how dry/damaged your hair is you won’t be able to decide a proper hair care routine for yourself, plus you won’t be able to determine which products to use. Therefore, to avoid bad hair days, always be aware about the condition of your hair.

Hair is made of both protein and moisture. Curly hair in general needs more moisture as the hair cuticle does not lay flat so the moisture doesn’t stay in the hair as easily. If your hair tends to snap when you brush or comb it then it needs moisture. If it feels gummy when wet it needs protein. A good indication that your hair has too much protein is if no matter what you do, you have just about tried every kind of treatment and your hair still feels bad.
Using good quality salon products is the best way to go as they contain high quality ingredients that penetrate the hair shaft and nourish without causing product build up that can contribute to your hair feeling flat, heavy and dull.

Another way to nourish your hair, keep them healthy and get your best hairstyle is to be careful you don’t overuse styling with heat like flat irons, blow dryers and curling irons. Using too high of heat or going over and over the hair with your iron will cause your hair to dry out and become brittle. Taking care of the hair by using good salon products as well as getting regular trims are the best ways to help keeping your hair health.
