How Can You Identify Anxiety?

Welcome to the 21st Century- the century of a lot of good things and at the same time anxiety and depression. The fever and fret of regular life has given rise to a strange psychological disorder. Anxiety, Tension at work, responsibilities towards your family, well being of your near and dear ones, rising prices, relationships, uncertainty and much more, leave you emotionally drained and therefore, adding to your disturbed mind.

Sudden bouts of anxiety only prove that you are under pressure and need to calm your mind to sort things out. Anxiety, if not treated at an early stage, at the very outset of it, can lead to severe depression and stress. One has to understand that anxiety is not a disease but only a symptom. It’s a sign that you’re in a stressful situation that needs careful handling. For severe cases of anxiety, you must, without delay, go visit a doctor. In other cases, you can treat anxiety by yourself.

It’s important that you recognize the symptoms of anxiety. Without doubt, you must start working on yourself immediately after realizing you’re suffering from anxiety. Here are a few symptoms of anxiety and ways to deal with it.

Symptoms of Anxiety:

Irritation and restlessness: It’s normal to feel restless and irritated after a hard day at work. However, you’re in a problem if these symptoms persist for a long time. Irritation and restlessness are two primary symptoms of anxiety.

Solution: Try and find out the cause of your irritation. If something disturbs you, try to get rid of the cause. If it’s a person, maintain distance for him/her. Sometime tensions and uncertainty can also lead to restlessness. Try to make peace with the fact that not everything is under your control and some things work better if left alone. There’s no point thinking and worrying about stuff that’s beyond your control.

Headache and breathlessness: Two serious symptoms of anxiety, regular headaches and breathlessness can lead to a disturbed mind. This leaves you tired and irritable.

Solution: Get adequate rest. Practice deep breathing and sleep well. Eat fresh and healthy. Maintain a disciplined lifestyle. Remember, all disturbances are in your mind and worrying too much can make matters worse.

Panic Disorder: Very common among people who suffer from anxiety. Panic attacks are caused by excessive insecurity and fear of the unknown. This can get serious if not taken care of in the beginning.

Solution: Panic can be handled if you try to think what exactly is bothering you. There will be insecurities in every sphere of life but to be burdened by it solved nothing. Try and calm your mind. Make friends with the unknown. Remember, it’s the unknown that makes life interesting and not every unknown is bad. It holds amazing surprises for the future as well.

Last but not the least; if your anxiety becomes a severe problem, it becomes a disorder. And every disorder needs to be treated by professionals. There is not harm in going and visiting a psychologist if you think talking to him/her may help.
