Catherine Zeta-Jones Hits the Red Carpet in China

You can’t keep a glam girl down.
In a red-carpet appearance in China’s Shandong province on Saturday, Catherine Zeta-Jones stepped out at a star-studded event to announce the launch of a new $5 billion film studio there, as well as plans by AMC Entertainment to host an annual Chinese film festival. (AMC was purchased by China’s Wanda group in 2012.)

Other A-listers in attendance included Leonardo DiCaprio, John Travolta, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

It was the actress’s first public appearance since PEOPLE revealed her separation from her husband of nearly 13 years, actor Michael Douglas, in late August.

Meanwhile, Douglas is on the other side of the globe as he prepares to attend the Emmy awards on Sunday, where he is nominated for his role as Liberace in HBO’s Behind the Candelabra.

The couple, who have not filed for divorce or moved toward a legal separation, have traditionally celebrated their joint Sept. 25 birthdays (she is turning 44; he’ll be 69) together with friends and family. But this year Douglas is expected to continue shooting his thriller The Reach in New Mexico while Zeta-Jones remains on the East Coast with their kids Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.
