Burn That Fat – Don’t Believe Anyone Who Says Calories Don’t Matter

There are a lot of diets out there where the creators of the diet tell you that it is not essential to count your calories and you can eat anything and effectively burn that fat.  This is just totally untrue.

One of the first laws of weight management is the simple fact that calories do matter.  Scientifically it is simple as calories in and calories out.  Calories in essence is energy.

The way energy enters your body (or calories in) is determined by the foods that you consume.  Different foods have different calorie contents.

Energy is then burned up (or calories out) by the amount of activity which your body undergoes.  There are all kinds of activities.  Some are observable to you such as walking, running, exercising in the gym, lifting weights, swimming etc.  There are also natural activities your body does which burn up energy such as digesting food and pumping blood around your body.  The combination of all of the activity which your body does determines how much energy is burned up.

Naturally, if more energy enters your body than is burned up, the excess is stored as fat.  In terms of calories, if you eat more calories than you burn through exercise, you will gain fat.

If you body is in balance, so that the amount of calories you consume equals the amount of calories you burn, then you will maintain and consistent weight.

Conversly,  if you consume less calories than you need for the activities you are doing, your body will use your fat stores to provide the energy needed and so you will lose fat.

Of course there is a lot more involved such as nutrient ratios and a lot of other things, but simply if you would like to burn fat and you don’t know how many calories you are consuming, then how will you know whether the activities you are doing are enough to burn those calories and then eat into your fat stores.

If you want to burn that fat then you definitely need to make sure you consume less calories than you are burning so that your body will be burning fat.
