Tips for Everyday Makeup at the Office

Although enhancing and attractive, wearing glittery eyeliner or smoky eye makeup is a complete no-no as they’re more suitable for an event or party. Yes, they can certainly be eye catching but it’s attention warranted for the wrong reasons.

Here are the basics to keep in mind when you’re looking for the right office makeup:

  • Your makeup has to last long. Having to retouch as you go from one meeting to another is a hassle.
  • Your makeup needs to be of low maintenance and easy to do especially if you’re in a hurry.
  • Your makeup should not be distracting especially if you’re doing a presentation in front of your bosses and peers. You wouldn’t want them to be just staring at your bright pink lipstick while you’re talking.
  • Your makeup should make you feel both confident and comfortable. These two go hand in hand as you can’t be confident when you’re worrying over something about the makeup you’re wearing.

1. Eyes

As mentioned in the tips above, your makeup needs to last long so the first step to achieving this is to find a good base. Make sure that what you have are neither too pasty nor too thick. Dewy skin is nice and all but be careful because it has the tendency to get shiny. The best option is Matte. Dust your face with powder too to matte down and have some blotting papers for retouches.

When it comes to eye color, the golden rule to keep in mind is to keep it subtle. This means this isn’t exactly the right time to experiment with blending colors. An example would be apply a light taupe on your lids with bronze on the crease or you can pair it with gray too. Go for subtle highlighting and for eyeliner, you can apply it on the outer third of your eye but keep it in gray and brown hues. Black is quite strong.

When it comes to your mascara, get one that also lasts long. For eyebrows, keep them neat. Refrain from plucking too much because you can do many things with strong brows.

2. Cheeks

The goal is to put some color on your cheeks; thereby enhancing your beauty. A light shimmer will give a nice effect when you’re under fluorescent lights as this emphasizes your cheekbones but don’t overdo it. Go for sheer blushes where you can build color.

3. Lips

Go for any color just so long as it’s not so bright to the point that it would already be distracting. Nude and matt lippies generally work great.
