The Most Effective Way to Lose Weight? Start Walking.

So, you’ve resolved it’s about time you get started losing a bit of weight, and that working out frequently would be a good way to start. So perhaps you’re new to exercising or you haven’t been exercising for some time. Usually, it can seem a bit too much and even a little bit awful… But don’t worry, there’s an easy way to exercise once again: walking! You need to make walking an integral part of your exercise plan.

First, when you’re developing a workout program, be sure and include walking as a daily activity. Are you a dog owner? Take your pet for a fine, long walk. Anything under 10 minutes doesn’t count. 10 minutes may not seem like like a lot of walking, but over the course of a month, or even a week, it adds up quickly. Do you want to get a bit more work out? Take Fido for two walks every day. Perhaps you can try walking to work, or at least some of the way? This is something you can do no matter how far you live from your workplace. If you’re lucky enough to get merely a thirty-minute or so walk to where you work, that’ll be an extra hour of walking each day. If you catch a bus, simply walk to the next bus stop so that you do a bit more walking in the day. Adding more walking into your everyday routine is a cinch.

Walking is great for your body and general health. This is because walking is one of the best aerobic workouts. This means it’s not just great for your heart, but you’ll experience weight loss as well. Walking is normally done at a slow pace, so you won’t be straining your joints too much, unlike running. I have a skinny brother who seems to be able to gobble up anything he wants and continue to thin. I asked him about it. He claims he’s never truly thought about it, but maybe it’s because he walks quite a bit every day. When he mentioned that, everything suddenly made sense. Since, for a lot of us, nothing is simpler than walking, there’s no excuse not to.

Try and get into the habit of walking daily as you’ll have a better chance of sticking to it, and with the right diet, you’ll be able to lose weight with no problem. By walking you’ll also feel better and you won’t be bored by it since it’s not strenuous at all, which will make you feel more driven. As you walk more and see changes, you’ll want to do more or up the intensity of your walks. Why not, if you want to walk more? Try walking faster or, if you’re feeling very positive, you could jog. After that, the sky’s the limit.

There should be no excuse for you to not go out and walk even a short distance each day. Even if you lead a busy life you can take out 10 minutes to walk around the neighborhood, or if you’re a member of a gym, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
